Racht? More like HACK-t! He wouldn't know a wallaby from a Walloon.
:Ah, Professor Sanger, greetings! Scholar is the usual term, indeed, although I'm not too attached to it; as you say, these things do rather come and go depending on what the outside world is expecting to see in us. I did once meet Racht, and discussed his work over a particularly boozy dinner hosted by a minor head of state. If I recall correctly, he said that you had helped him with the proper sequencing of various species' development? He was certainly most grateful for your assistance. What endeavours have occupied you recently, if I may ask?

::Well, Scholar, I'm afraid I can't say just what I've been up to lately. Partly out of Non-Disclosure Agreements that bind me to the University here, and partly because I've had some pretty extensive fugue states lately, and I can't quite remember what I've been doing during them, though my editors and department chairs seem pretty happy, so there's that. I came to my senses after the last one with about a six-week growth of beard, a manuscript about post-Excession holofilmmaking, and an invitation from Otter Jenkins to join this little project. I hope I can remain lucid enough to see it through to the end.

Hello there, Scholar Buchanan. I believe that is the correct form of address for such a learned member of the Polished Mirror? It has been years since I have worked with a Scholar, and I know your protocols and etiquette are often subject to change, so my apologies if I have offended. I am intrigued to learn that a representative of the Polished Mirror has joined us in our little endeavor here. Have you been at the Mirror long? I once worked closely with Scholar Adrovinious Racht on some wildlife research, but we have not been in touch in some time. Are you familiar with his work?

Ah, Professor Sanger, greetings!

Well, Scholar, I'm afraid I can't say just what I've been up to lately.

Quite uncalled for, if I may say so. Besides, the distinction is obvious: a Walloon is a markedly more appealing shade of purple.
