The personal life of Morwenna Celeste is known to us primarily though her letters to Suor Manda Antando. These writings tend to career wildly from the earthy to the esoteric, often without paragraph breaks and usually with only vague nods in the direction of proper punctuation. However, the patient reader is rewarded with keenly observed and lively depictions of natural phenomena interspersed with wry glimpses of daily life.
The scholarly work attributed her, by contrast, is widely regarded to be a tedious assemblage of minute trivia, forever plagued with questions of fidelity.
